World-renowned hearing aid manufacturer ReSound has once again released a new, groundbreaking wearable hearing aid that is here to transform the hearing aid landscape.
On August 25 of this year, the ReSound Omnia was released to the public to mass accolades.
The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive as a whole, but we at Hearing & Balance Doctors want to make sure we are recommending technology to our patients that we truly can stand behind and that we know is working for our own patients.
For that reason, we asked some of our patients to participate in a trial with the ReSound Omnia. We asked these trusted patients to truly put these new hearing aids through the wringer so that they could provide accurate feedback and give us a picture of the benefits and drawbacks of this new technology. Each patient was asked to wear the ReSound Omnia hearing aids for 14 days and then to report back to us their thoughts.
We have received their feedback and have compiled it in this article so that you can feel fully informed when you begin the hunt for a new pair of hearing aids.
Before that, let's look at what makes the ReSound Omnia hearing aids special.
How Is the ReSound Omnia Different?
The ReSound Omnia takes what ReSound has been doing so well and tweaks the technology to make even better performing hearing aids.
ReSound is branding these hearing aids as being able to help users hear better in noisy environments and also to hear ambient sound with more clarity.
So, how is this technology different from the others?
According to ReSound, the Omnia helps users to understand speech better when in noisy environments, as compared to their other hearing aid technology.
Their secret to this better speech understanding even with more sounds around is due to their Organic Hearing â„¢ technology. This unique technology emulates the natural hearing process and helps the brain to hear as it was meant to.
The ear shape is unique, and the Organic Hearing â„¢ technology within ReSound Omnia hearing aids is shaped to collect sound inside the ear and is made specifically for each individual user.
In order to achieve this perfect fit, ReSound has an app, the ReSound Smart 3D â„¢, which provides the full support users need in order to ensure a perfectly fitting hearing aid.
The natural fit and speech clarity is enhanced by other groundbreaking features.
The ReSound Omnia hearing aids are made for the moments in life that are unpredictable. Fully weatherproof and sweatproof means that these hearing aids go along for whatever life holds and won't hold the user back.
Of course, connectivity is another feature of the ReSound Omnia hearing aids, and streaming capabilities are included from iPhone, iPad, or Android devices. Crystal clear phone calls and music streaming have been made better through advances in connectivity, as compared to the legacy technology of ReSound.
Overall, ReSound Omnia boasts a lot of exciting tweaks to their trusted hearing aid technology.
But What Do Our Patients Think?
In order to create a fair and accurate trial, we made sure to try and include as many different voices as we could.
After wearing ReSound Omnia hearing aids for 14 consecutive days, several patients shared their experiences and whether they would recommend them or not. Never ones to fudge the truth, not all of our patients have positive feedback, but that is our way of giving you the full story.
Here's what they had to say:
Ken found that the sound was more natural and less mechanical or synthetic. He also found that the sound quality was the same no matter the environment. For that reason, he gave them an 8/10 and would recommend them to others.
Dennis said that the ReSound Omnia provided more clarity in comparison to his older hearing aids and said he could hear better, crisper, and sharper sound with more intelligibility. He noted one specific instance where the Omnia impressed him in conversation with his wife. Overall, Dennis gave them a 9/10 and said he would recommend them to others.
Ken noted that sounds were all sharper with the ReSound Omnia and that they performed well in noisy conditions as compared to his other set of hearing aids. He rated them an 8/10, but Ken said he would certainly recommend them to others.
Kurt gave the ReSound Omnia a 9 out of 10 and also noticed better clarity in spoken words as opposed to his other hearing aids. He said he would recommend them to others due to the better hearing he experienced in conversations
Ronald was impressed with the ability to stream to his ReSound Omnia hearing aids and said that the sound quality was "much better" in comparison to his old hearing aids. He found that he could focus better on who he was talking to in conversation. An overall rating of 8/10, Ronald said he would certainly recommend the Omnia to other people.
Paul was not as impressed with the Omnia as other patients. He found them to be harder to clean because they were so small. He also didn't find much of a difference in the hearing clarity as compared to his older hearing aids. He described the sound quality as "louder but not clearer" but did say that he thought the sound was a little better when he was at an outdoor concert. Paul gave the Omnia a total rating of 6 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend them to others.
Brian found that the audio was better for ambient sound but was unimpressed with the streaming capabilities. He noted that he had some troubles with the Bluetooth dropping without warning, and phone calls were subpar, as he felt he would miss the first part of the conversation. But, as a positive, he found that the sound was clear and overall, the Omnia performed better than his current hearing aids. His recommendation, therefore, is a mixed bag because he would recommend them for the clearer ambient sound but not for the streaming/Bluetooth. An overall rating of 8/10 shows his overall impression.
Sharon was another fan of the ReSound Omnia hearing aids and rated them a 10/10! She found that she could hear perfectly in restaurants where there is a lot of background noise, a place she notes that she couldn't previously hear well.
George found that he could hear a fuller sound. Although only wearing them for one week, he did note that the sound quality was much better than his other hearing aids and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for a new set.
